ANSWERS TO ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU HAVE ABOUT
SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION
A LITTLE NOTE FROM DREAMHAUSCLUB
Hair loss can happen to anyone but it should not affect your self-confidence. But if it gets to you everytime you wake up and that is the first thing you see every morning in the mirror, and it affects you.
Consider scalp micropigmentation, it is a non-invasive, effective and quick solution to make you love yourself again.
WHAT IS SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION (SMP)?
It is a semi-permanent procedure that is similar to eyebrow embroidery. It is a cosmetic treatment for thinning hair or hair loss. It’s sometimes also called a hair tattoo. A technician uses thin, micro needles to deposit tiny dots of pigment (colour) on the scalp. These hair follicle-like microdots give the appearance of thicker hair and acts as a camouflage on empty parts of the scalp. It can hide thinning areas as well as may also hide birthmarks or scars. Scalp micropigmentation is noninvasive and doesn’t require surgery or general or local anesthesia.
DOES SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION GROW HAIR OR AFFECT EXISTING HAIR GROWTH?
Scalp micropigmentation doesn’t grow hair or change your natural hair growth. It is a cosmetic procedure where it helps visually. It's not a hair loss treatment. It will not block existing hair follicles from growing hair. It also won’t cause hair loss or damage your existing hair follicles. Scalp micropigmentation is a way to make it look like you have fuller, thicker hair.
In fact, in some instances it can possibly help with hair growth as the generic technique for micropigmentation is similar to microneedling.
Disclaimer: This, however is not guaranteed.
WHO IS SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION FOR?
The treatment can create the appearance of thicker hair in people who have:
-
Alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition that causes hair loss.
-
Chemotherapy-related hair loss.
-
Genetic or Post-Partum Hair loss in women.
-
Hormonal conditions that cause hair loss, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
-
Male pattern baldness, receding hairline or baldness at the crown of the head.
-
Thin hair, Uneven hair loss or scalp show-through.
-
Scars or birthmarks on the scalp.
HOW LONG DOES SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION LAST?
Scalp micropigmentation usually retains its appearance for 2-3 years. The pigments used in scalp micropigmentation are semi-permanent cosmetic pigments. They are not the same as tattoo ink, over time the pigments will fade due to daily hair-washing, external product applications etc. Similar to hair-dye sessions at your salon, touch-ups can be done over time to darken the colour to improve its appearance. But this is solely dependant on the individual.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED & HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The number of sessions and prices solely depend on the size of the treated area.
The smaller the area, the lower the price, vice versa. A smaller area requires lesser sessions. A bigger area may or may not require more sessions.

-
Microdots are done manually

Needle depth & dot size fully depends on the technician's strength and skills.
-
Dot size can be inconsistent.
(Over time there may also be a chance where the pigment of larger dots can spread into tiny patches of pigment.)
-
Each session takes up to 4 hours.
-
Numbing cream is required due to pain factor.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION SESSION?
The SMP technician uses a small needle to deposit pigment on the desired areas of the scalp.
The treatment session may take up to 2 hours, depending on the size of the treatment area. Most people need three or more treatments, spaced several weeks apart. Each treatment session adds more pigment to create and layer on the look of thick hair.
